
Haas F1 team boss Günther Steiner has announced that Nikita Mazepin has signed a contract with the team for the 2022 season. The Russian will continue to drive den Haas for at least another year. Unfortunately, Steiner revealed that the situation with Mazepin’s team-mate Mick Schumacher is a little different.

Schumacher is part of the Ferrari Driver Academy. All further discussions about his future therefore also affect the Italian team, which, according to Steiner, makes signing contracts all the more difficult.

As reported by Grandpx.news, the Haas team boss said he hopes Schumacher will stay with the team for the next season. But his connection with Ferrari is a factor in the deal talks.
“It’s a three-party contract because he also has one with Ferrari. So there is still a lot to be clarified, ”said Steiner.

“Mick can’t say it’s signed yet, but there is an agreement. However, since there are three parties, it is more complicated than if it were just a contract between the two of us, ”emphasized Steiner.

Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto had previously stated that Ferrari will monitor Schumacher’s progress in his rookie season. The Italian hopes that Mick, son of Michael Schumacher, can emulate his father and drive for Ferrari in the future.
