Cole Custer managed to convince the world that he was able to achieve extraordinary things. Cole Matthew Custer is an American professional stock car racer. He was born on January 23, 1998. He is the son of Joe Custer, Chief Operating Officer of the Haas F1 Team and President of Stewart-Haas Racing. Cole Custer received his education at Ladera Ranch Middle School and Tesoro High School.

He currently drives full time in the NASCAR Cup Series, where he drives the No. 41 Ford Mustang for Stewart-Haas Racing. Cole Custer benefits from racing quarter dwarfs at the age of four and regularly competes for the NASCAR Xfinity Series Championship and NASCAR Cup Series victories.

In his 18-year career, the 23-year-old Custer has collected several victories and records that are worthy of drivers twice as old. He secured the Sunoco 2020 “Rookie of the year”. He also won his first career cup race at Kentucky Speedway in July 2020.

How Custer started his racing career

As noted, Custer began running quarter dwarfs at the age of four. In 2005 he won six races and the Jr. Novice Series Championship. He participated in Quarter Midgets in the Pomona Valley in 2006. He also competed in North Carolina Quarter Midget Association races in the Jr. Stock and Jr. Honda Series.

In 2011, Cole Custer won 15 races in the United States Auto Club (USAC) National Focus Young Guns Championship. The following year, Custer began racing against late models, won ten races, and became Rookie of the Year Honors. That same year he also won his first start at 1-10 Speedway in Blythe, California.

Custer joined the K&N Pro Series East in 2013 and made his Bristol Motor Speedway debut for Men Schrader Racing. During the season at Iowa Speedway, Custer won pole position. He left every lap, a record for a combination race, and won. At the age of 15, he rose to become the youngest race winner in the history of the K&N Pro Series; he defeated Dylan Kwasniewski’s record by six months. Custer won again at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, also from pole. In the series ranking, he finished eighth.

Custer later took part in the season-end race of the K&N Pro Series West. Once more he left every race track behind on every lap, but was turned around by Gray Gaulding on the last lap and finished sixth. During the 2014 season, Custer won two Pro Series races: February 27th at Phoenix International Raceway and April 26th in Richmond. During the race at Phoenix International Raceway, he kept Greg Pursley and Brennan Newberry behind in the green and white checkered finish.

Custer In The Camping World Truck Series

Custer joined Haas Racing Development in 2014 to compete in nine races in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series that led to his debut in the Kroger 250 at Martinsville Speedway. Custer started the race 9th and finished 12th. To qualify for the “Drivin ‘for linemen 200” at Gateway Motorsports Park. Custer set the course record with 136,426 miles per hour, which is a lap speed of 219,556 km / h matches, and became the youngest pole winner in NASCAR history.

At New Hampshire Motor Speedway on September 20, 2014, Custer won the UNOH 175 off the rack camping truck series and became the youngest winner in NASCAR National Touring history at 16 years, 7 months and 28 days. In 2015, he took part in 10 races in the regular series, Custer took one win, two top five and a fantastic four top 10 finishes.

In the same year, on October 31, he captured the pole in the Trunks Series at Martinsville (VA) Speedway. At Pocono, Custer became the youngest Superspeedway winner in ARCA Racing’s history. He made his ARCA series debut on May 24th at New Jersey Motorsport Park in Millville, New Jersey, finishing fifth from pole position.

2019 Xfinity Series Winner

Custer made his Xfinity Series debut for JR Motorsport at Richmond International Raceway. He drove the No. 5 Chevrolet Camaro and then drove the No. 88 for Jr. Motorsport to the best fourth place of his career. On September 16, 2016, Stewart Haas Racing announced that Custer would drive the Ford Mustang No. 00 all day in 2017. His start to the Xfinity season was sad; he finished 37th. Custer got back on his feet and finished 10th in Atlanta. After a while, Custer took his second career win when he overtook Tyler Reddick on the final lap and threatened his place in Championship Four.

Custer scored many victories in Richmond, Fontana, Chicago, Kentucky, Pocono, and Dover. He finished second at Darlington, but Custer was officially named the winner because Denley Hamlin was disqualified because his car did not meet the height requirements.

At the end of the Kansas Race, Custer was fighting Reddick in a pothole. Custer finished the 2019 season on points behind Reddick in Homestead in second place. After a two-year long absence, Custer returned to the Xfinity Series in May 2021, behind the wheel of the number 17 for SS-Green Light Racing and Rick Ware Racing as an employee of Stewart-Hass Racing.

The rookie of the NASCAR Cup Series

Cole Custer finished 16th in the championship standings of the NASCAR Cup series in the first season of the full-time competition. He scored one win, took two top five and seven top ten finishes, left five rounds and won the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series rookie.
