Williams scored 10 points in the Hungarian Grand Prix as he benefited from the first-round carnage caused by Valtteri Bottas and Lance Stroll.

Haas’ Mick Schumacher improved in Hungary but fell back as the race progressed, while Nikita Mazepin retired early due to an incident in the pit lane.

Since the American team is not getting out of hand in 2021, Steiner doubts that he will be able to overtake Williams in the constructors’ championship.

“The chances are very, very slim,” said Steiner. “I’m very realistic about these things. Williams didn’t expect to get the points they do. You did a good job and ended up in a good place at the right time. That’s how racing works.

“That’s why I always say that you always have to try to do your best. So they were there when there were points, and they did. But I don’t bet we’ll get more points than them. ”

Steiner was still unhappy about the incident between Mazepin and Alfa Romeo’s Kimi Raikkonen, but was certain that it would not cost his team any points.

“It was very disappointing because it wasn’t necessary,” added Steiner. “Sometimes these things happen, they shouldn’t be happening. It would have been difficult for me to score points even without the crash. But the biggest thing for me is that Nikita missed another race where he can learn a lot. This is my bigger concern than the points at the moment.

“So it happened, you can’t get it right and hopefully we’ll learn something from it.”
