The Russian has suffered a number of twists so far during his rookie F1 season, resulting in the creation of social media accounts and websites to read “When was Mazepin’s last filming?” to pursue.
Mazepin spun twice during the Styria Grand Prix weekend, the first time in the second practice session on Friday, before reaching almost a full 360 in turn 1 on Saturday morning in the final practice session.
With his regular pirouettes, which led to Mazepin becoming a kind of “meme king” on social media, Haas decided to give his driver his own top game.
“It’s a small present for you so that you can continue mazespinning,” joked Steiner as he presented the present to his driver.

When Mazepin asked what it was, Steiner replied: “This is Mazespin!
“So now you can turn this, it’s better than turning the car.”

Mazepin will start the race from P20 for today’s Styrian GP, alongside Haas team-mate Mick Schumacher, who overtook him by just a tenth of a second.
“Unfortunately, we don’t get a lot of test drives in Formula 1 and if you don’t experiment and are very conservative with the setup, then the chance of finding a lot is also lower,” said Mazepin after qualifying.

“I used FP1, FP2, and FP3 to try things that weren’t guaranteed to work, and to be honest, it didn’t work. We have just returned to an original startup setup and things went as expected.
“There were no negative surprises.”
