Mick Schumacher has announced that he expects his team to have to replace the power unit on his Haas car after experiencing oil pressure issues in practice for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
The German driver Schumacher, who ran well in Formula 2 on his last visit to Baku, only managed 12 laps in the second practice session on Friday before reporting oil pressure problems over the team radio.

He explained, “At the moment it looks like something is oil, I’m not 100 percent sure what. The fact is we will likely have to switch the engines back to the first PU so we’ll find out and hopefully everything will be fine for tomorrow.
“Unfortunately we didn’t do all the laps we wanted, a couple of issues and then I had to do another flying lap on the C5 and then a lap or two on a lot of fuel, so in general we still have to learn. ”
Schumacher “comfortable” despite Baku problems
Schumacher found the track to be slippery in the morning but improved as the day progressed, hoping to “put the positives together” to challenge the Williams cars in Saturday’s qualifying.
“At first I felt very comfortable on the track,” said Schumacher. “It’s one of those tracks that made me feel quick and comfortable [at] two years ago and now I feel the same way.
“Obviously, [we were] trying to figure out the corners one by one, gaining the feelings for each of them and improving the ones we need to. At the moment everything is going very well and now it’s a matter of preparing for quail. “
