Another piece of the driver puzzle in 2021 seems to be emerging, with Mick Schumacher now likely to move to Haas for next year.

Previously, the young German rookie and member of the Ferrari Academy was linked to a move to Alfa Romeo – another team driven by the famous Maranello team.

But in Spa-Francorchamps, Schumacher clearly forged plans with Haas for 2022.

When asked about a new seat fitting that Haas had promised him, he said that they would now wait until 2022.

“We want to take our time and do it right. But the seat issue is currently the smallest problem for me, ”said the son of Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher.

“It is more difficult to improve the racing speed of the car. That is our main focus.

“We have to identify all the points that are not going so well so that we can do better next year.”

It sounds as if a new contract was in the works over the August break, to which he confessed to RTL correspondent Felix Gorner: “There have been some discussions.

“We are in the final steps to get the whole thing done.”

It is clear that Schumacher’s Formula 1 adventure is entering a second year because he reveals that Ferrari is satisfied with its rookie campaign.

“Based on the feedback I have received, everyone is happy with the way my season has gone,” said the 22-year-old.

“I am also happy with my progress and everything is going well, but given the difference in speed compared to other teams it is quite difficult to gauge.”

Although the official announcement hit widespread headlines on Thursday, Fernando Alonso said there was little doubt that he would sign with Alpine for another year.

“That was always the plan in my head, because the rule changes that will be implemented next year are one of the reasons for my return to Formula 1,” said the 40-year-old.

“My contract was for over a year with an option for another season, so we had to agree sometime for 2022. And that only took a minute,” added the Spaniard Alonso.
