2021 will be for Haas. more expensive than expected

2021 will be for Haas. more expensive than expected

Haas team boss Günther Steiner admits that the expenses caused by rookie drivers in 2021 exceeded his own expectations.

Nikita Mazepin and Mick Schumacher have been selected for this season, with Haas hoping the two to gain experience before the team can deliver a more competitive car under the new regulations in 2022 was surprised at the cost of some of the accidental damage suffered by both drivers so far.

“It was very expensive – don’t ask me for a number because I won’t give you a number, but it was very expensive,” Steiner told RACER. “We knew with two rookies that it would be expensive, but I think it actually exceeded my expectations at the moment.

“What I’m saying is if you fight, if you make it in a qualifying round, OK, you try whatever. If you do it in free practice, I think the same effort hurts more. You know what I mean? It hurts more to spend the money when you’re doing it in FP3 than in qualifying and fighting for something, or in a race when you’re fighting for something. “

Steiner suggested that Schumacher should have learned from his FP3 crash at the Monaco Grand Prix that excluded him from qualifying when he repeated the mistake in Hungary (pictured above), but he says he never had discussions with the drivers about hasty mistakes.

“I’m sure we need to address it. I’m not afraid to bring it up, there is only one time and one place. These things don’t have to be forced.

“I always sit back and think about my own things when something goes wrong … When you think about it after it happens, you usually come from your own wisdom – I have to digest it. And when we talk, I need a solution. “
