Mick Schumacher: “Every racing kilometer counts”

Mick Schumacher: "Every racing kilometer counts"

Mick Schumacher is happy with his start to his rookie season as he has finished every race, which is crucial for him.

In his first season, the German did not even come close to collecting points on the grid because the Haas he drives is the worst car on the grid.

Even so, he has been widely praised for his achievements as he has beaten teammate Nikita Mazepin many times and has not made many mistakes.

The latter proves the fact that he is one of only seven drivers who are still retiring and that makes him happy with how things have gone so far.

“Every kilometer of the race counts and enriches the experience,” he said speedweek.com.

“Of course you can simulate and practice a lot in practice, but the best driving experience is a Grand Prix. You can’t simulate the pressure in the race.

“So I’m happy with the season so far.”

From the team’s point of view, the best race of the season so far was the last time in Baku, where Schumacher and Mazepin beat the two Williams drivers in P13 and P14 and Haas catapulted into P9 ahead of the British team in the overall standings.

“We showed a good team performance in Azerbaijan,” said Schumacher over the weekend.

“We didn’t make it easy for ourselves, but we worked our way forward and can be satisfied with the result, especially with the move up to 9th place in the constructors’ championship.”

Next up is the first triple header of the season – with one race in France followed by two in Austria – and the first that the rookies will experience in Formula 1.

Schumacher knows that it will be tough, but he is excited and believes that he is prepared.

He said, “It’s going to be intense, but it’s also going to be fun because we spend more time as a team and we drive all the time.

“Ultimately, racing is what we love to do best, so I don’t complain when Grand Prix after Grand Prix comes. Physically, I’m not worried anyway. I had prepared myself very seriously for the season. “
