Haas team boss Günther Steiner believes that Nikita Mazepin’s pit-lane collision with Kimi Raikkonen in Hungary has destroyed his chance to learn from bike to bike with Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen.
After avoiding the carnage at Turn One on the Hungaroring, Mazepin retired after Raikkonen was falsely released from his pit bay into the path of the Haas driver.

Since the world championship protagonists Verstappen and Hamilton fell back to the bottom of the field early on, Mick Schumacher gained significant experience in the fight with the Mercedes and Red Bull drivers.
This loss of experience for Mazepin is the most disappointing for Steiner.
“For me the biggest thing is that Nikita missed another race in which he could have learned a lot,” explained Steiner.
“That is my greater concern than that [missed] Points at the moment. It happened, you can’t get it right and hopefully we’ll learn something from it. ”
Mazepin points chance “difficult” before Raikkonen clash
Steiner says it would have been “difficult” for Mazepin to score points in the race even without his crash with Raikkonen.
Williams used the chaos that was unfolding to score his first 10 points of the season – and the first since the 2019 German Grand Prix – with Nicholas Latifi and George Russell in seventh and eighth.
Steiner thinks such a result is unlikely for his team.
“It was very disappointing because it wasn’t necessary,” Steiner said of the uncertain release that Alfa Romeo claimed was the result of a traffic light failure. “Sometimes things like that happen.
“They shouldn’t be happening and if you had maybe asked me right after the race I would have had some comments on what I think about how that happened.
“But it would have been difficult for me to score points even without the crash.”
