Teammate George Russell had to end the race late with a transmission problem, just before the last restart with two laps left.
Russell had hoped to make some wins in the late race and perhaps compete for the top ten, but his afternoon stalled with the end problem before attacking again.
“Unfortunately we had a problem with the transmission that forced me to give up before restarting the race,” said Russell. “I was just at the finish line and then had no more strength, which is particularly frustrating after so much anticipation has grown before the last two laps.
“It shouldn’t be, and sometimes that’s racing. We go away and analyze what happened. I had a good race before, the car felt fast and I had a lot of confidence in it, so there are definitely positive things to take home from the weekend. “
