Ax Verstappen will start from pole position when Formula 1 returns to the Netherlands for the first time in 36 years at the Dutch Grand Prix at Circuit Zandvoort this weekend.

There has been no F1 race in the country since 1985, a planned return in 2020 has been postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Verstappen took pole ahead of Lewis Hamilton, who pushed his Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas into second place in front of a passionate orange army that will make up a large portion of the 70,000-strong crowd as he tries to recapture the championship lead. after reducing the lead of his title rival to just three points after a rather absurd Belgian Grand Prix last weekend.

After all, for the first time in 12 years, half points were given to those who finished in the top 10, with George Russell taking his first podium for Williams and Hamilton settling for the third.
