Haas team boss Günther Steiner believes that it is now too late for F1 to add replacement Grand Prix if more are left behind this season.

In just 101 days, the curtain will fall on the 2021 F1 campaign in Abu Dhabi, but concerns remain over a number of races, particularly in South America.

A revised calendar was released last week with no replacement for the Japanese Grand Prix, though one TBC slot remains, with Qatar expected to fill the void.

“If there are changes, I think that there will be more cancellations and no more changes, because at the moment we are simply running out of weekends,” said Steiner.

“There’s not much you can do about that.

“Whether something will happen always depends on Corona[virus], at the moment FOM and Stefano [Domenicali, F1 CEO] urge us to finish this calendar as it is now, but you never know. ”

At the Belgian Grand Prix last weekend, half points were awarded for the sixth time in the history of the sport, despite no races taking place as the rain stopped the game.

“As we saw last weekend, we don’t have a grip on nature. In my opinion, if the pandemic hits hard in any of the countries we are traveling to, the only option is to cancel the event, ”Steiner added.

“I don’t think there is a great option to move it to another location because there is just not enough time.

“If you think the season will be over in just over three months.”
