Haas team boss Günther Steiner has admitted that testing altitude conditions in Mexico will probably not catapult the American team into the Formula 1 rankings this weekend.

Rooted at the bottom of the table this year, Haas is the only team to score a point after deciding to focus all of its resources on the regulatory changes that will go into effect next season.

Although Mick Schumacher has reached Q2 in Turkey for the second time this season, Steiner does not expect a repetition on Saturday.

When asked whether there were first signs that the conditions would play out the strengths of the VF-21, Steiner said categorically: “No.

“The car is the same as it has been since the beginning of the year as you all know and I don’t think the altitude is magical for us.

“So it looks like we can cool the car normally so that we have enough space there to prevent it from overheating.

“We’ll see the proof over the weekend. It is usually difficult to cool the car at this altitude, but there is no magic at this altitude. ”

Last time in the US, Nikita Mazepin reported that his feet burned during the race.

When asked if the cause of the problem had been identified in the last two weeks, Steiner said: “I actually have to ask the engineers, but he gets it and we have to see what it is, but he always gets very hot feet.

“I have to ask if you found anything after the last race, but I have no answer.”
