Double retirement for the Haas F1 team in Turkey

Double retirement for the Haas F1 team in Turkey

Haas F1 team He suffered a double retirement late in the race for the Turkish Grand Prix.

Romain Grosjeans The race ended prematurely due to damage to his car. Nicholas latifi crashed on lap 39 against Grosjean and the Williams Racing Driver was forced to withdraw. Grosjean continued, but it turned out that the car had suffered too much floor damage and he had to retire on lap 49.

“It was a tricky race, as expected – it was very slippery. We had problems generating tire temperatures all weekend. I didn’t feel very comfortable in the car, or at least I couldn’t really push the way I wanted to. There were times in the race when it got better, other times not, ”said Grosjean.

“Then Nicholas (Latifi) crashed into me, badly damaging my floor. Shortly afterwards we retired the car. We struggled with these conditions from the start; it would always be a tough race. If the conditions had been mixed, we might have done something, but it was more difficult in an all-wet race. “

Kevin Magnussen technically finished the race in seventeenth place. However, Magnussen had to retire on lap 55 after a problem during his last pit stop. One of the tires was not driving properly and Magnussen’s car had to be pushed back into the pits. The car was retired, but Magnussen was ranked seventeenth as a sufficient number of races had been completed.

Magnussen said: “The race went very well. The tires really worn down to the carcass and when they got there at that point we were really strong. I think we lost a few points today. I think no tire is on at the pit stop. I had to stop the car and allow myself to be withdrawn. I lost two laps and it really was. We had a really good speed in the car so it’s really sad again that we missed an opportunity for points. “

Team boss Guenther Steiner regrets the points the team missed. Magnussen was well on his way to a top ten result when he pitted, but unfortunately it wasn’t meant for the team.

Steiner said: “At least for Kevin (Magnussen) the race was going in the right direction. We were solid in the top 10 there and looked pretty stable. Then we had another bad pit stop. That got us off our points. From then on we just couldn’t do much more. It was a very interesting and exciting race, but we weren’t there to score points. There is no one to blame but us. We need to fix that in the future. “
