It would be hard to find an F1 fan who would object to the youngster following in his father’s footsteps and donning the red and white at some point in his career.
But the German, who has tested for Ferrari in the past, had a difficult debut season last year as he struggled to get the best performance out of a so-so Haas car.
He finished 19th in the drivers’ standings and, along with his teammate Nikita Mazepin, went without a single point.
However, the German will no doubt have learned valuable lessons from his debut F1 season, which he is looking to build on this year.
He has certainly attracted the attention of his opponents, most notably Wolff who believes he has the skills to drive for a top team like Ferrari.
