Alpine F1 (formerly known as Renault F1) is one of the oldest teams in the sport, having also won two drivers ‘and constructors’ championships (2005, 2006). Both championships came with the two-time champion Fernando Alonso at the wheel. The legendary F1 driver returned to the team this year, 12 years after leaving for Ferrari F1 in 2009.

With an outstanding driver like Alonso on the team, Alpine F1 is keen to get back to the top as soon as possible. Laurent Rossi, CEO of the French team, said it would take the team at least four years to fight for victories when he revealed a detailed roadmap to do so.

Alpine F1 CEO gives a thorough roadmap for success

Although Alpine F1 scored their first win of the season through Esteban Ocon in Hungary, they fought for a podium in all other races. Aside from Ocon’s win, the team only secured one more top five finish when Fernando Alonso finished fourth in the same race. So Laurent Rossi, CEO of the French team, is hoping the team can get back on top by 2024 as he puts forward a thorough roadmap for success.

Speaking to F1.com, Rossi said: “We have a long-term project, the goal is to achieve a level of competitiveness that will get us on the podium as often as possible in 2024. Find a roadmap every year a bit better. It’s a 100-race project, four years, four seasons. ” In the constructors’ championship, Alpine F1 is currently fifth with 104 points, 128 points behind Ferrari F1 (232.5) in fourth place.

The CEO also added that he believes his squad needs to make progress with every race. According to him, it could be progress on the racetrack or something else. Rossi insists that “the idea is to never stop” and take steps in the “right direction”. Alpine F1 CEO doesn’t expect much progress next season as the rules will change drastically, giving the top teams an equal chance of putting together the best package.
