Ferrari crashed Sainz He is to replace the outgoing four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel before the start of last season and announce the signing of the Spaniard for 2021 in May.
But Sainz Ferrari helped McLaren finish third in the constructors’ championship with the team last season. Ferrari experienced a tremendous loss of shape when it slipped to sixth place.
It led to suggestions that Sainz might regret joining Ferrari as the team is stepping backwards and difficult to compete with McLaren by 2020.

Sainz acknowledged that the constant suggestions he may have regretted had become frustrating and based on assumptions made too soon.
“Certainly it was a bit annoying because everyone said Ferrari would be that bad in 2021, and in Formula 1 you never know.” Sainz Motorsport.com said.
“[Ferrari] Of course, they took a step back in 2020, and they were the first to admit this and be very self-critical. But people were only convinced that 2021 would be a fight too.
“I think 2021 with a two year deal with Ferrari and 2022 is a huge change in regulations and 2021 is a lot less important than what people think.
“Even if Ferrari changes shape and is great in 2021, you never know. People have already hinted that 2020 is terrible and 2021 will be just as terrible.
“[It was] annoying at the time but I kept my head cool. I have never said anything or anything that I regret. I guess [I’m] happy for that. “
Despite its struggles, Ferrari ended the year with three podiums – one more than McLaren – and saw solid form in the final European races of the season.
Sainz said the upswing in the shape of Ferrari was a decent confidence boost before switching in 2021.
“[It looks] good without being able to drive the car and know what they actually changed or something. ” Sainz said. “It just looks a little better for them, and I’m glad to see they move forward.
“I have always said that if there is a team that can quickly remedy the situation in Formula 1, then for me it is Ferrari.
“Mercedes, of course [can]but Ferrari more than anyone because of its history and the people and resources they have. I’m glad to see that happen. “
