Mika Häkkinen’s championship-winning F1 car is for sale

Mika Häkkinen's championship-winning F1 car is for sale

Many petrolheads want more than anything to be able to drive a Formula 1 car as fast as our favorite racing heroes from childhood. While none of us will ever have the same skills as a true F1 driver, we can at least buy the cars they drove in and pretend we have even a fraction of the same talent.

F1authentics.com is a website that generally sells Formula 1 memorabilia, often with direct links to our favorite Grand Prix drivers. Like a replica of Michael Schumacher’s Ferrari F1 helmet signed by the man himself.

Every now and then, however, they get something really amazing in store. Feast your eyes on Mika Häkkinen’s 1999 Mclaren MP4-14 Grand Prix car, one of the racing drivers with whom Häkkinen won the 1999 world title.

This car was driven by the dynamic duo Häkkinen and his teammate David Coulthard and was in the hands of two of the most talented Grand Prix drivers of the 1990s. At least the best names that aren’t Schumacher or Senna.

With five overall victories in the 1999 season and 76 points collected, this car was at the forefront of the Formula 1 zeitgeist in the late 1990s. The car features the same iconic Mercedes-Benz and Mobil One oil stickers that made the car famous.

Obviously, this car was never built for the road, but its potential as a show car and a time capsule for what some call the top of Formula 1 drivers makes it a tasty choice for the eccentric wealthy businessman who is most likely the first in the world is line to buy it.

There is no pricing information available on the website that is likely to keep away gaping fans who cannot afford this one-of-a-kind racing car. Rest assured there are people rich enough to buy it, it’s just a matter of who and when.
