Corinna Schumacher, the wife of Formula 1 legend Michael, is said to have brought the couple’s palatial home in Switzerland onto the market.

The 20,000-square-foot farmhouse sits on the shores of Lake Geneva and was listed at £ 6.4m – more than double the £ 3m the Schumachers paid for the property in 2002.

Corinna is said to have moved as her husband continues to be treated for the brain injury he sustained in a devastating skiing accident eight years ago.

Now in a £ 27 million mansion in Mallorca that formerly belonged to Real Madrid President Florentino Perez, she has put the Swiss house up for sale.

As reported by the German magazine Bunte, the spacious residence was described as an “extraordinary property in a quiet and protected location”.

The report adds that the Schumachers were looked after by housekeepers and guarded by bodyguards, while Corinna – a decorated rider – kept horses on the premises.

The property has the main residence, a guest house and an office where Schumacher himself worked.

There are few updates to the German icon, but Jean Todt, who led Schumacher while at Ferrari, spoke about him last December.

“I saw Michael last week. He’s fighting,” said Todt, who is now president of the FIA.

“My God, we know he had a terrible and unfortunate skiing accident that caused him a lot of problems.

“But he has a great wife next to him, he has his children, his nurses, and we can only wish him the best and the best for his family too.

“All I can do is be close to them until I can do something, and then I’ll do it.”

Todt added, “He was treated so he could return to a more normal life.”
