Less than three months after the checkered flag fell in the final Abu Dhabi race last year, all of the 2021 Formula 1 cars were unveiled.
Ferrari was the last to pull the covers off this year’s challenger who he hopes will make it back into the fight at the top.
However, the launch video was released an hour before it aired – just days after Williams was forced to launch augmented reality when details of his new car were revealed early.
Not all 2021 cars are what they seem. All teams hide parts of their cars or adjust dummy sections to frustrate the rivals. The most sensitive parts won’t appear until the test later this week, or even before the first race.
Some teams, like Haas, have simply shown their paintwork – the US team adopts the colors red, white and blue from its new Russian sponsor Uralkali.
Aston Martin has unveiled its 2021 car, marking the return to F1 racing after 61 years. Mercedes has demonstrated its W12, which it hopes will lead the team to its eighth consecutive constructors’ championship. Red Bull was the most mysterious of them all, with just a handful of images released.
Before preseason testing begins this week, scroll down for pictures and details of all of the 2021 Formula 1 starts.

Mercedes
The Mercedes W12 is the successor to possibly the fastest F1 car of all time and should set the tone for the season.
The W11 was the class of the field and helped the team to a seventh consecutive constructors’ championship, an unparalleled dominance. No pressure to follow it up.
If Mercedes have managed to build on their performance, there is every chance they will continue their winning streak with an eighth championship for the team – and likely for Lewis Hamilton.
The team is confident: it says it repaired the MGU-K engine element, which suffered a number of failures over the past year, and, as with all teams, the design of the back floor it will be on kept extremely secret in the hope of compensating for the downforce lost due to rule changes this year.
2021 Mercedes paint job
Mercedes is keeping the black livery it put in place in response to protests against Black Lives Matter last year and continues to advocate equality. “We changed our paintwork last year because we wanted to make a public promise for more diversity and inclusion,” said Toto Wolff. “The black paintwork was a sign of our commitment and the beginning of a long process – a process that requires our continuous support.
“We have taken some promising steps over the past few months with programs and initiatives targeting various aspects of diversity and inclusion.”
In addition to unconscious bias training for managers, Mercedes aims to recruit a quarter of new entrants from underrepresented groups for five years, and is working with Lewis Hamilton on a common basis to improve diversity in motorsport.
Ineos keeps its distinctive red branding on the roll frame, but AMG logos replace the three-pointed stars on the engine cover – apart from the single red star in memory of Niki Lauda and his contribution to the team’s title win.
Red Bull
The new RB16B

Last season, Dr. Helmut Marko, the team has a championship candidate with the RB16 and has to provide Max Verstappen with a car with a championship caliber.
Unfortunately for the Dutchman and the Milton Keynes-based team, it didn’t quite go that way as they only took two race wins with five goals in 2020.

This year the team will be able to build on the momentum they gained towards the end of the season when they left Mercedes behind in Abu Dhabi, but we’ve been here before. After the opening round of the season, it will become clear whether the team has unlocked a performance step or whether the champion has just left the neck of his rival.
Red Bull launched its RB16B on February 23, and the team used one of its days of filming to do a shakedown at Silverstone prior to pre-season testing.
Ferrari
One start is more than enough for many fans, but Ferrari had two: the first, showcasing its driver line-up of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, and the second for the car itself – with a launch video posted ahead of the event.
There is hope within the team that a car that has been “improved in all areas” will deliver a significant improvement over what was Ferrari’s worst season in 40 years.
His sixth place in the Constructors’ Championship was the result of a lack of performance compared to rivals. The team had to rebuild its engine before the 2020 season following a private FIA agreement.
This year’s session was described by team boss Mattia Binotto as “completely new” and is only the beginning of the profits that the team achieved during the winter break. “The car has been improved in all areas where development is allowed,” he said. “We have to work determined and focused and be aware of where we have been and where we are going.”
2021 Ferrari F1 livery
It’s red, yes, but not as you know it. Ferrari liked the burgundy color used to celebrate the 1000th race at Mugello last year so much that it returned to the shadows in 2021.
It’s a replica of the color of the first car Ferrari produced in 1947 – the 125S – and is noticeably darker than the scarlet color of recent years, with an even darker section around the rear wing.
The change also highlights the new touch of lime green from its sponsor, the Philip Morris Mission Winnow brand, even more. Elsewhere there is a new brush font for the driver numbers.
The names of the drivers are spelled out through the roll hoop air intake, but are generally too small for television viewers to recognize.
McLaren
McLaren were the first team to reveal their 2021 challenger as it kicks off the new season with a new engine that Renault threw overboard in favor of Mercedes.
