Ferrari launches the limited edition 812 Competizione

Ferrari 812 Competizione

By 2021, the humble internal combustion engine can be expected to have reached the peak of its technical life cycle, but that hasn’t stopped Ferrari from pushing the boundaries even further with its latest limited-edition special-production car from the 812 Superfast.

The 812 Competizione and the 812 Competizione A – a Targa top version – arrived in two versions and broke the cover this week in Maranello with the unmistakable sound of the company’s fastest rotating V12 engine to date.

It is a breathtaking achievement of uncompromising achievement that will find its way to Ferrari’s exclusive group of collectors and enthusiasts. With a pure focus on immediate reaction, the 812 Competizione offers maximum driver pleasure on the road and on the track.

Power games

The 812 Competizione uses one of the most advanced naturally aspirated V12 engines on the market today. With a displacement of 6.5 liters, with an output of 610 kilowatts and 692 Newton meters of torque, it still achieves a stratospheric speed of 9,500 revolutions per minute.

Some areas of the Base 812 Superfast have been significantly redesigned in order to reach the new red record line while optimizing the fluid dynamics of the intake system and combustion and reducing internal friction. The result of this refinement is an increase in power and acceleration from a lighter engine borrowed from Ferrari’s F1 experience. A similar approach is being taken with the addition of a seven-speed dual clutch transmission that can deliver quick shifts when the power is transferred to the rear wheels.

In the real world of boastful rights, these appointments are enough to get the 812 Competizione duo to zero to 100 kilometers per hour in 2.85 seconds before moving upwards at a top speed of 340 kilometers per hour.

Aero advantage

The engine may have been upgraded, but the new car’s performance is aided by a variety of aerodynamic aids and carbon fiber panels that helped shed 38 kilograms of the 812 Superfast model on which it is based. The lightweight material has replaced the front and rear bumpers, rear spoiler and air intakes. For the first time, exotic full carbon rims are also being offered for a Ferrari V12, which offers a total weight reduction of 3.7 kilograms compared to the light forged 812 Superfast wheels.

Cooling and airflow are completely redesigned in the body to handle the additional increase in performance. This takes place in the form of revised ventilation, which has increased cooling by 10 percent compared to the basic model.

And if that’s still not enough, the Maranello outfit has replaced the rear pane of glass with an all-aluminum finish with built-in vortex generators for extra downforce and a fastback look that is really aggressive from every angle.

Inner inspiration

The theme of relentless performance extends in the car. The standard equipment of the 812 receives lighter door panels and a nod to the past, with the iconic theme of the geared gate taken up with a modern twist – an aesthetic move that echoes the spirit of the 812 Competizione.
