Ilott joins Juncos-Hollinger for IndyCar debut in Portland

Ilott feels he is in ‘very good position’ should F1 opportunity arise

Ilott, who will drive the Juncos Hollinger Racing # 77 Chevrolet, said, “This will be my first time in the NTT IndyCar Series and in the United States, which will be a little change from the European side.

“I look forward to working with the team in this first phase of its development and am proud to be part of this opportunity.

“I would like to thank the Ferrari Driver Academy for giving me this opportunity, and Ricardo Juncos and Brad Hollinger for bringing me onto the team.”

Ricardo Juncos and Brad Hollinger announced their partnership to form Juncos Hollinger Racing in early August, and the team pledged to run the last three NTT IndyCar Series events in 2021 before a full-time campaign in 2022.

This will be Juncos’ first IndyCar entry since the 2019 Indianapolis 500 with Kyle Kaiser.

“We are very excited to welcome Callum Ilott to the Juncos Hollinger Racing family,” said Juncos. “Callum brings a lot of experience and incredible talent to the team.

“We are confident that tomorrow he will have a good start in the NTT IndyCar Series when we hit the track tomorrow for our final test at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course before we make our official joint debut in Portland next week.”

Ilott finished third in the LM GTE Am class at the Le Mans 24 Hours last month and drove for Iron Lunx. He continues to be a Ferrari F1 test driver and reserve driver for the Alfa Romeo F1 team.

Ilott has been a Ferrari Driver Academy driver since 2018 when he finished third in the GP3 championship. He completed Formula 2 in 2019 and was runner-up last year.
