Charles Leclerc has had a decent F1 season so far. While Monegasse does not have to reach a podium in 2021, it was more consistently in the top 10. Although Ferrari struggled with its racing pace a few times this season, today’s sprint race at Silverstone was a good race for Leclerc.

Although the Monegasque struggled occasionally in qualifying this season, he qualified for today’s sprint race with an excellent P4. And in the 17-lap race, Leclerc stayed in that position and held it until the end. In fact, the 23-year-old was just four seconds behind Valtteri Bottas’ third-placed Mercedes.
After a turbulent 2020, many thought Ferrari would have trouble this season. However, this year the Italians are competing directly with McLaren for third place in the constructors’ championship. Leclerc hasn’t secured a podium so far, but you’d think it’s only a matter of time before these statistics change.
After today’s historic sprint race, the 23-year-old admitted that Ferrari’s Pace surprised him today. Although he admits that not much happened for him today, he believes today’s sprint race had a positive result.
He said, “No, Nothing! But it was still positive, we had the same pace as Valtteri, who was ahead of me. To be honest, we didn’t expect that, so that’s very positive. “

Although Leclerc ended up in P3 four seconds behind Bottas, he kept this deficit for the entire race on medium-sized tires. This could give him the motivation to push for a podium in tomorrow’s race. In addition, the Monegaske can be inspired by Max Verstappen’s start at the finish line to snatch Lewis Hamilton P1.

Should Leclerc make a podium at Silverstone, he could help Ferrari put McLaren under massive pressure. However, with Lando Norris heading for his home race in great shape, this task could be easier said than done.
