Helmut Marko doesn’t believe in Ferrari – F1 Team – Formula 1

The team red bull has just returned from one of the most brilliant seasons in its history, which will surely be remembered for years to come as the feat of having broken Mercedes’ hybrid-era dominance with Max Verstappen’s conquest of the drivers’ title. But a question mark hovers over the head of the Anglo-Austrian team, or whether the team caught in the 2021 World Championship fight managed not to sacrifice the development plan in the face of the 2022 aerodynamic revolution. Plenty of reassurances have been received about expectations for competitiveness in the season that begins in Bahrain in March, which has also been confirmed by Helmut Markus in an interview published by the Austrians in the Autorevue: “The quality standards, the simulators, the computers, the resources, the Red Bull and Mercedes have, are simply unmatched. I don’t think a scenario like Brawn GP will be possible.”

Among the title contenders, Marko doesn’t seem to see that Ferrari: “Maybe they’re fighting for a win. The advances they have made in terms of power units are clear to all. But I know our progress and it’s really promising.” According to the former Formula 1 driver, the difference between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton will still be big: “I hope the rest of the group is closer. But in principle these two can double everyone else if they go to the max.” The Red Bull City Council then discussed the relationship with Honda, who will retain the intellectual property of the power unit and will bring the engines direct from Japan, which the team only needs to ‘calibrate’ and ‘tune’.
