After a horrific 2020 season, 2021 has got off to a promising start for Scuderia Ferrari. Their drivers not only regularly qualify in the top ten, at the last Grand Prix Carlos Sainz secured the team’s first podium of the season and Charles Leclerc even qualified on pole position. The team appears to be way stronger than last year, and Lawrence Barretto, a senior writer at F1.com, believes it’s because of the dynamism of his teammates.

Teammate relationships are extremely important in Formula 1 and Barretto believes the dynamic between Sainz and Leclerc will drive the team forward this year. He feels that the two drivers are committed to the common goal of bringing Ferrari back to the top.
“You [Ferrari] have two drivers who are arguably the two drivers we’ll be talking about for the next 10 years. They appear harmonious and seem to get along well. They really like each other.
“I’ve heard they can work together quite well behind the scenes, at least for now. They don’t hide anything from each other and they get the bigger picture – we have to bring these guys, this team, back to the front, ”Barretto said on the podcast.

Ferrari’s team boss Mattia Binotto also trusts Leclerc and Sainz and hopes that they will score points for the team this year. With a much more reliable car and two capable drivers, the Italians have everything they need to be the showjumper again.
