Ferrari team boss Mattia Binotto praised Ferrari’s performance at Silverstone, as Scuderia has now collected more points after 10 races this season than in all of 2020.
A third consecutive colon for Ferrari as Charles Leclerc led 49 laps en route to P2 and Carlos Sainz got P6 (hampered by a slow pit stop) was a huge improvement as they failed to score at the French Grand Prix, four Race ahead. And although he only missed winning the British Grand Prix by a few laps, Binotto was pleased with the result.

“I think it was obviously disappointing [to lose out on the victory to Lewis Hamilton] two laps to go, but I think we should be satisfied too: satisfied with the race performance, for the entire weekend.
“Even after France I think that the team results somehow understood the weaknesses and now these are three races in a row in which we had good pace in the race, which was a weakness at the beginning of the season, which is what makes us progress as a team and that makes me more happy [about] especially when we look at the second part of the season, ”he said.
Charles Leclerc: At one point I thought we had it at Silverstone today
France was a moment of concern for the Maranello side as Sainz and Leclerc were shocked by their lack of competitive pace. A number of factors contributed to the front tires not working properly.
Binotto has been shy about his team’s work to fix these issues for the next three races, the team to get a better understanding of what’s wrong and how to go about it – and I think that’s what I’m happy with and I am delighted to see the progress. “

Hungary is hosting the next race and the Hungaroring is a venue that suits Ferrari with a number of slow corners and historically high temperatures. Does he see victory in sight as Leclerc was eliminated penultimate time?
“Not the victory; the one two! ”was his prediction, perhaps with a twinkle in his eye.
