Ferrari Driver Academy members Marcus Armstrong and Robert Shwartzman completed further tests in a Ferrari Formula 1 car in Fiorano on Thursday.

The pair piloted the SF71H from 2018, the same chassis Shwartzman used to get his first taste of F1 last year and which Armstrong first tried in January.

DAMS Formula 2 racing driver Armstrong had the car on Ferrari’s test track for the morning and covered more than 200 km. Shwartzman, who drove in F2 for Prema in his second season, covered a similar distance driving the car that afternoon.

Neither driver is currently scheduled for an F1 free practice session this year. Runner-up of the 2020 F2 title and soon-to-be debuting GT World Challenge Europe racer Callum Illot come first for such an opportunity as the manufacturer’s F1 test driver.

Starting next weekend in Monza, Ilott will drive a Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo for Iron Lynx in the GTWCE Endurance Cup this year, while the French teenager Dorianne Pin received a place in the FDA member’s Michelin Le Mans Cup team after making it into the final Girls on Track Rising Stars of the FIA.

Red Bull Junior Liam Lawson will also field a 488 GT3 in 2021, as he will drive in the newly designed DTM for AF Corse (Ferrari’s de facto sports car factory team) in addition to his F2 commitments at Hitech GP.

In the first test before the season at Hockenhein he was tenth fastest, while in sixth place he was former F2 racing driver Arjun Maini. The Indian will drive for the Mercedes-Benz customer team GetSpeed Performance.
