Sebastian Vettel advises Lewis Hamilton on driving with younger teammates

Sebastian Vettel

In 2019, Charles Leclerc moved from midfield team Sauber to World Cup contender Ferrar and joined four-time champion Sebastian Vettel. Both racers have some advice for George Russell, who will move from Williams to Mercedes in 2022 to join Lewis Hamilton. When asked if he had any advice for Russell, Vettel told Formula1.com:

“I don’t know, Lewis is old enough, he doesn’t need much advice. Every situation is different too; yes, I think when you race a new teammate you always get things to learn. It was like Charles came to the team and looking back I enjoyed it, I was always very open and straightforward, and I also learned a similar way of working from Charles, so it was pretty straightforward between us, that was nice

Although Leclerc and Russell are the same age, the former joined Ferrari two years ago and Russell is now having his big break. Leclerc’s advice to Russell is:

“I don’t have much to say to George,” began Leclerc. “He knows what to do. It’s a great opportunity for him and he’s also in a very good position, because like I was with Seb in the end, I had a multi-world champion next to me and of course a great chance for us as a young woman to show what you can do can and learn from the best. So yes: just to enjoy your time there and not put yourself under too much pressure. “

Vettel stays with Aston Martin

Sebastian Vettel will continue his collaboration with the Aston Martin team for the 2022 F1 season after the German was taken over by Formula 1 to drive alongside Lance Stroll. For Lance Stroll, the son of team owner Lawrence Stroll, the next season is the fourth in the team, while Vettel will drive his second season with the team.

Sebastian Vettel had signed for the Aston Martin team for the 2021 season and also won four titles in a row from 2010 to 2013 with Red Bull before moving to Ferrari. However, the Italian team did not renew their contract. At that time, the German stated that there was no mutual desire of the team and driver to stay together at Ferrari beyond the end of 2020. Vettel also indicated that the financial aspects did not play a role in his decision to terminate his current contract.
