Vettel did not have a good start to his new chapter at Aston Martin and many suspected that he has passed his prime. But Raikkonen is coming to defend his former teammate and praising the German for reaching the top step in Baku.

In an interview with Motorlat, Raikkonen said: “Yes, of course [if he was happy for Vettel]. Obviously it is [taken] nothing away from us. I raced against him last year, earlier this year. you [Aston Martin] seem to be taking a step forward in the last few races.

“People have been making it difficult for him for a long time, so it’s nice that everything went so well. He can show you [the critics] may think twice before saying anything now. I’m happy for him, ”concluded Raikkonen.

How has the German season been going so far?
The four-time world champion moved to Aston Martin at the beginning of the 2021 season. After having had a terrible last season in which he only scored 33 points and finished 13th in the drivers’ standings. Vettel hoped to find himself in his new life.
However, it was a tough start as it didn’t even make it into the top 10. But things are looking up after he reached fifth place in Monaco and Vettel was able to take his first podium in second in the next race in Baku.

At the French GP, the German had to be content with a ninth place. However, after showing what he can do, Vettel hopes to get a better result in the upcoming race next week in Austria.
