“It was a journey to hell”

F1 Grand Prix of Brazil-Lance Stroll

Aston Martin driver Lance Stroll has admitted that he finds it “hard to believe” that he has already spent five seasons in Formula 1.

Stroll drove for the first time in Formula 1 at the Australian Grand Prix in 2017, where he finished 19th. In his 98 race career, the 23-year-old has achieved one pole position and two podiums.

In the 2021 driver standings, Stroll is currently in 13th place with 34 points, just nine points behind four-time champion team colleague Sebastian Vettel.

Last weekend at the Qatar Grand Prix, Stroll delivered one of his best runs, climbing from 12th to sixth place.

In a post-race media interaction, Stroll was asked to reflect on his F1 career to date and whether he was satisfied with the progress he has made since his debut season. The Canadian admitted that things had not yet arrived for him.

“I haven’t really thought about it yet,” said Stroll. “Yeah, I mean … no, it sure is a hell of a long journey. It’s crazy the way time goes by. Feels like … in a way, it feels like a long time ago, but it feels.” like yesterday when I was in my first race in Australia, so hard to believe that after 5 seasons there were almost 100 races …

Stroll described his journey in Formula 1 as “great” but also acknowledged some of the difficult times he has had in his short career so far. The Canadian revealed that the ups and downs of his journey taught him many important lessons.

“It’s just the beginning” – Lance Stroll

Lance Stroll is about to race 100 and the 23-year-old admitted that he is “looking forward” to the next phase of his career.

“I still feel, yes … it’s just the beginning. You know, I just turned 23, so I’m still really looking forward to the next chapter, ”said Stroll.

With two races remaining in the 2021 F1 season, Stroll, for his part, will try to achieve a high finish and possibly outperform his teammate in the overall standings.
