
Racing Point, renamed Aston Martin this season, battled it out for the top 3 position in 2020. In the last race in Abu Dhabi they missed the P3 goal for McLaren by just seven points. Racing Point had based their team on the 2019 Mercedes car, which earned them the nickname Pink Mercedes.

He said, “I think we definitely have to see what kind of lap times they can. We have the same drivetrain, transmission, and rear suspension. So if they are able to do some of those lap times we should be able to get closer – that gives us hope. “

Aston Martin has a major midfield competition this season
Two of the main midfield competitions that Aston Martin will face this season are Ferrari and McLaren. Ferrari suffered a major setback for the engine last season which opened the P3 position for the odds. Otmar recognized the close competition and explained: “I think a lot of teams, including Red Bull, McLaren and Ferrari, are much closer to Mercedes this year than last year. I mean, when you look back to see where Ferrari was three months ago and where they are now at Mercedes – just look at the lap times and you will get a picture. “
