Aston Martin F1 seemed to regress after Racing Point switched to the colors of the English manufacturer. According to Mike Krack, the Silverstone team principal, it is a logical paradox, because the whole structure has had to adjust to new means and new ambitions.
“We have a small structure that was based on a few people and in which we put a lot of financial resources to develop it very quickly. And if you develop very quickly, the whole structure cannot adapt as quickly” explains Krack.
« Normally you reduce efficiency if you grow too fast and that’s something that has happened. The concept car that was decided on was a direction that ultimately had very high aerodynamic potential, but due to the porosity, it could never be mined. »
After a disastrous start to the 2022 season, Aston Martin has made progress in its F1, and Krack rightly explains that this progress comes from better identifying the car’s problems.
« The reason we are making progress is that we have identified the technical weaknesses of the car and have worked hard to eliminate them, one after the other, some in parallel. One of them is the weight of the car. , another is feedback to riders, and the last is aerodynamic performance. »
« And we have improved all areas and we continue to improve them. The rate of change and the developments that we have taken at this stage give me good confidence that we can continue this until the end of this season. »
