Gerhard Berger says Sebastian Vettel had problems when he was put under pressure in Formula 1 after the German survived a hot first race for Aston Martin in Bahrain.
The Austrian worked with Vettel during their time together at Toro Rosso and believes the German has shown weaknesses throughout his career when he was pressured internally.
“It was the same with Ferrari,” Berger told the official Australian GP podcast. “I just feel like he’s not free and not relaxed. He might want to prove things, but right now it’s not possible because the car isn’t good enough or his own shape isn’t good enough.
“He never reacts very well under pressure. Remember Daniel [Ricciardo] came to Red Bull and was very strong, he put pressure on Sebastian.
“When you’ve done so many races there comes a point where you are no longer able to take all the risks and fight like you were fighting before you won a race.”
“In a way it just didn’t work out well for him. He starts making mistakes, people start questioning him. Step by step there is more and more pressure and he doesn’t like pressure.”

1996 F1 champion Damon Hill also had his thoughts on Vettel’s form.
During the F1 podcast, F1 Nation, Hill said, “It’s like watching the Mexican game at the party, the pinata. He is beaten to a pulp.
“What happens to him is horrible to look at. I have the feeling that something has to change in its psychological constellation. He has to see a mystic and go and let an evil spirit remove him from him. He did something wrong to deserve this. “

Lando Norris has questioned Red Bull’s decision to force Verstappen to leave Hamilton behind in Bahrain as the Dutchman was already up front making it “his corner”.
“Max is already slightly ahead. He’s going off course because of oversteer, but he was already ahead and had already taken the action. He could have taken his foot off the gas to gain control, but then he would have lost the lead. ” again, ”said Norris during a stream on his Twitch channel.
