F1 22: Best Supercars to Drive

F1 22 brings with it plenty of new features, one of which is the addition of supercars to the F1 game.

F1 22, the first F1 game in the franchise to benefit from EA’s ownership of Codemasters, is out now, and Codemasters have added plenty of new features to the game. One of those is, of course, the inclusion of supercars, something which polarized fans but which is here nevertheless.

There are ten supercars to race with in the Pirelli Hot Laps section. Here, we are going to rank all of the best supercars, from the slowest to the fastest.

1. Aston Martin Vantage F1 Edition (195mph)

Aston Martin’s Vantage F1 Edition was launched prior to the 2021 F1 season, and was billed as the F1 safety car for the road. It is this car that the Aston Martin F1 safety car uses as its template. Power comes from a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 527 hp, and 0-62 mph is in around 3.6 seconds with a top speed of 195 mph.

2. Aston Martin Vantage Safety Car (195mph)

Available as part of the Champions Edition bundle, F1 22 features the two 2022 F1 safety cars that players can drive. The first is the Aston Martin Vantage safety car, which has that epic 4.0-liter turbo V8 engine under the hood with 528 hp and a 0-62 time of 3.5 seconds. Thanks to the front splitter and vaned grille, this car has 155.6kg of downforce plus a top speed of 195 mph.

3. Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro (198mph)

Mercedes are next up with their AMG GT R Pro, a car that has a top speed of 198 mph. This monster from Germany has a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine under the hood that produces 577 hp, propelling it to a pretty good top speed of 198 mph. 0-62 is reached in around 3.6 seconds, making it just as punchy as the Vantage F1 Edition, and like many Mercedes, it is a rear-wheel drive.

4. Ferrari Roma (198.8mph)

Next up is the first of the Ferrari cars, and it is a big one – the exquisite Roma. The Roma is unusual as it has back seats, and it hasn’t got a V12 under the hood. Instead, the Roma has a 3.9-liter turbocharged V8 engine that gives this Italian steed 612 hp and propels it to a 0-62 time of around 3.4 seconds. The top speed of the Roma is just shy of 199 mph at 198.8 mph.

5. Mercedes-AMG Black Safety Car (202mph)

The AMG GT Black Series safety car is an absolute monster. It is a modified version of the track version of the production version – a bit of a mouthful! It has a 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo engine under the hood with an eye watering 730 hp. It is very fast, with a top speed of 202 mph. This makes it that little bit quicker than the Aston Martin, and it has a 0-62 time of 3.2 seconds.

6. Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series (202mph)

It was only natural we would get another Mercedes as one of the best supercars in F1 22 – the AMG GT Black Series. This monster has the same 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo V8 engine that the AMG GT R Pro has. However, it is tuned further to produce even more power at 720 hp and with a 0-62 time of just 3.1 seconds. That’s some pretty good pace, plus it has a top speed of 202 mph, making it one of the fastest supercars in the game.

7. McLaren Artura (205.1mph)

Now we have the first of the McLarens, and one of the newest cars to come from the British manufacturer. McLaren went to town on the Artura and it sits on an all-new platform from the company. Powering the car is a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that is paired with a 95 hp electric motors. This gives the car a horsepower figure of 671 hp, and it has an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Its 0-62 time is just 2.9 seconds with its top speed just a touch over 205 mph.

8. Aston Martin DB11 AMR (208.2mph)

At number eight we have the second of the two Aston Martins you can drive in the game. The DB11 AMR is powered by a glorious 5.2-liter twin-turbocharged V12 engine that produces 630 hp. As you might expect, this thing is seriously quick. It has a 0-62 time of 3.7 seconds and while that is slower than, say, the Artura, it does have a top speed of 208 mph, making it quite the monster.

9. Ferrari F8 Tributo (211.3mph)

The F8 Tributo has to be one of the finest modern Ferraris ever made. The Tributo has a 3.9-liter twin-turbo V8 engine under the hood, and this delivers on its promise. A whopping 710 hp is on offer with the Ferrari, and it can go from 0-62 mph in just 2.9 seconds. Its top speed of just over 211 mph makes it a missile in a straight line.

10. McLaren 720S (211.9mph)

The McLaren 720S is the best supercar in F1 22. It takes the top spot with its blazing speed and is the fastest car in F1 22. The 720S comes with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine under the hood with 720 hp to its name, an apt figure given the name of the car. This means we have a 0-62 time of just 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 211.9 mph, although you can round that up to 212 mph if you want. This makes it the fastest supercar in F1 22.

These are all the supercars you can drive in F1 22, with the addition of the two safety cars. They may not be as powerful to drive as F1 cars, however, they are a fun addition to the game and do help to keep things interesting.
