Sebastian Vettel’s announcement of his retirement from Formula 1 came as a shock to all ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix, with the four-time World Champion having been expected to sign a contract extension with the Aston Martin F1 Team.
The German has said that he wants to spend more time with his young family and be able to watch his three children grow up.
Despite this, ex-F1 driver Jean Alesi thinks it won’t be too long until the world sees the youngest F1 World Champion return to racing in a different series, with his timing to leave F1 “good”.
“He did it at a good time. He is a four-time world champion, he is very well respected in F1 by all the drivers and that means a lot you know,” Alesi said to Give Me Sport.

“But he’s quite young, so probably we will see him back in a racing car quite soon, I believe.”
Over the last few years Vettel has become extremely instrumental in F1 supporting various campaigns.
Vettel alone has shown support for the LGBTQ+ community, equal rights, and environmental and climate change.
The German has done so through both words and action, despite having faced numerous calls of being a “hypocrite”.
Vettel has been slammed for talking about matters like environmental change, whilst being paid by Aramco, a Saudi Arabian oil company who are the title partners of Aston Martin.
The German in his defence, has openly admitted that perhaps he is a hypocrite, not necessarily for who he’s being paid by but for racing in a series that is part of the environmental and climate change issue.
He made an excellent appearance on BBC political program ‘Question Time’, where he demonstrated just how knowledgeable he is on current global topics of concern.
With sustainability being so important to Vettel’s life, a future drive in either Formula E or Extreme E would be perfect for the driver, who won all of his Drivers’ Championships in consecutive seasons with Red Bull Racing.

Formula e is improving at a rapid pace, Considering It’s only existed for Eight Years.
The all-electric single-seater series is upgrading to its third generation of car for next season, as it continues to pave the way for sustainable motorsport.
Having Vettel onboard in either all-electric series would certainly raise the profile of the championship and allow his voice over important matters to remain as influential as it currently is.
