Carlos Sainz is about to break this unwanted Formula 1 record

Scuderia Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz is about to break an undesirable record. The Spaniard made his debut for the Red Bull youth team Toro Rosso in 2015. He has been part of Renault and Mclaren ever since and after his impressive performance he finally has his big break with the Red team this year. Sainz’s performance this year has been exceptional as he has scored 145.5 points so far this season, right behind his Monegasque team-mate.

The Italian team driver has so far completed 139 appearances in the sport and achieved 5 podiums and a best result of P2. He has shown some impressive performances this year, helping Ferrari take third place in the constructors’ championship. Even so, he’s on the verge of breaking an undesirable record that has the most F1 points without a win, currently held by his former Renault teammate Nico Hulkenberg.

With 177 (49 more than # 2), Nico Hülkenberg holds the record for the most F1 starts without ever standing on a podium.

Last year he lost his seat. He is only back for 2 races in F1, replacing a driver who has Covid.

Last race his car didn’t even start

Today he qualified for the 3rd

Carlos Sainz needs a win to save himself from an embarrassing record

With a P2 place in Sochi that year, Sainz was close to winning his first Grand Prix. With 517 points without a win in his pocket, however, he will break Hulkenberg’s record if he finishes 8th or better in the upcoming race. He’s got an incredible run with 13 straight points this season but he desperately needs a win to save himself from holding that embarrassing record.

It is noteworthy that Hulkenberg has 521 points in his pocket without a podium finish in his long career. He currently serves as a reserve driver for the Aston Martin F1 team.

Sainz enjoys the challenge with Leclerc

Charles Leclerc is currently in his third season with the Italian team. He is undoubtedly one of the rising stars in Formula 1. The Monegasque was very impressive with his performances this year and took a podium at Silverstone and 10 top 5 placings. His team-mate, who was born in Madrid, considers him to be one of the best drivers in the field. “Today he is one of the greatest, if not the greatest, in Formula 1. There is probably no one who is more talented than him on a dry lap.”
