Aston Martin will drop the pink livery when the title sponsor is announced

After changing its name to Aston in early 2021, the team that launched as Jordan will lose the pink livery associated with Force India / Racing Point and former main supporter BWT and become a green-based British racing livery switch, which March fully unveiled.

The team has signed a multi-year contract with the American IT consultancy Cognizant Technology Solutions.

Rumors of a deal between Aston and Cognizant first surfaced on the 2020 GP weekend in Abu Dhabi after the latter closed talks with other potential F1 partners.

The partnership with Cognizant – listed in the current Fortune 500 table at number 194 – can be seen as an important part of a global promotion strategy for the team, which is to gain profile in 2021, supported by four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel alongside Lance Stroll.

“The return of Aston Martin to Formula 1 after more than 60 years of absence is a milestone in the history of the sport,” said team principal Lawrence Stroll.

“Everyone knows what Aston Martin stands for, but the F1 team will allow us to take the essence of the brand to new places and build on the strong foundations laid by previous iterations of the team.”

Team boss Otmar Szafnauer stated that the deal with Cognizant goes beyond the team’s naming rights.

“Innovation and technology are central pillars for any F1 team and this long-term partnership is more than just a branding exercise,” he said.

“With a new factory already under construction, Cognizant’s expertise and resources will add value in all areas of our IT operations and make a valuable contribution to our performance along the way.”

Brian Humphries, CEO of Cognizant, said, “Our global brands have a lot in common. We are both innovative, future-oriented companies who like to act quickly, stay focused and lead from the start.

“We understand the incredible power of today’s advanced technology and how we can use it to create unique customer experiences.

“We are delighted with the promise of this deep and mutually beneficial partnership.”

It goes without saying that while BWT will not be the title sponsor of Aston, the water technology company’s continued involvement with the renamed squad cannot be ruled out.

When the Aston-Cognizant deal was announced, Vettel said he was “proud to be part of this journey” on his new team.

He added: “There is so much for me to discover over the next few months and I am incredibly determined to make this team even more successful.

“Before we know it, we’ll be in the first race and see this famous name back where it belongs.”
