Vettel was banned from the final race results after Aston Martin failed to provide the FIA with an adequate fuel sample after the race.
The FIA was only able to take 0.3 liters of fuel from Vettel’s car, although Aston Martin assumed that 1.74 liters were still in the car.
As a result, the Silverstone-based team requested a review right after new evidence was found – a fuel cell failure was the reason the team was unable to provide an adequate fuel sample.
Aston Martin has since confirmed that it has withdrawn its appeal against Vettel’s DSQ, avoiding a case before the FIA’s International Court of Appeals.

A statement from the team said: “Having examined our position and taken note of the FIA stewards’ judgment that there was clear new evidence of a fuel system failure, we nevertheless withdrew our appeal as we believed it did Advantages outweigh the benefits. “
Team principal Otmar Szafnauer added: “Sebastian drove brilliantly in Hungary and we are delighted that we have been given the opportunity to show important new evidence that we have discovered since the race.

“We believed the evidence we presented was relevant and showed the FIA that he should have been reinstated after his disqualification.
“Unfortunately the FIA disagreed and although the accuracy of our new evidence was not contested, Sebastian’s disqualification was confirmed on the grounds that the new evidence was not considered ‘relevant’.”
