Aston Martin is ready to announce the hiring of another high-ranking rival team member to make their technical department unmatched in Formula 1.
The team’s chairman of the board, Lawrence Stroll, announced the upcoming announcement as part of his efforts to double the workforce on the former Racing Point team, which he renamed earlier that year.
“We are constantly hiring brilliant new high-level technical and technical talent and the result will be a technical and technical strength in the company that is on a par, if not better, of any other Formula 1 team,” said Stroll in an interview with the media, including RaceFans on Thursday.
“We are now announcing the hiring of brilliant new senior technical and engineering talents almost every week. This week we will be announcing another senior member from another team to join us. “
The most recent appointment follows the hiring of three senior engineers last month, two of whom are from rival Red Bull. Andrew Alessi has taken over the management of technical operations, while Dan Fallows is set to take over as the team’s new technical director in 2023. Luca Furbatto will join Alfa Romeo next year as Aston Martin’s new technical director.
The team, known as Force India until 2018, had one of the smallest workforces in the field when Stroll bought it three years ago. It will be about twice that size by the time its recruitment campaign is complete.
“We currently have around 500 employees,” says Stroll. “When I took over Force India we had about 400, we grew about 100. And it’s not just about quantity, but also about quality.

“In Formula 1 it takes time to get people: contracts, garden leaves, etc. But in the short term we are planning to increase this number to around 800 people.”
However, he denied that a replacement for the team’s CEO, Otmar Szafnauer, is one of his intended hires.
“We weren’t looking for a new CEO to lead the team,” said Stroll. “We are looking for almost every other position, from currently 500 employees to 800 employees.
“But we will always try to strengthen ourselves wherever we can. And we get an incredible number of people who apply for jobs. We never had that luxury before we became Aston Martin. “
The Hamilton Commission, led by Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton, today issued a report containing ten recommendations to improve access to British motorsport jobs for blacks.
While Stroll hadn’t seen the report at the time of the interview, shortly after it was published, Stroll stressed the team’s commitment to equal opportunities.
“We fully support – whether white, black, man or woman – we have a very diverse range. As long as you are qualified for a position, it doesn’t matter whether you are white or black or male or female. So we’re very open-minded, as I’ve been with all of my previous companies. “
