
Antonio Giovinazzi left the sport after three seasons with Alfa Romeo. The Italian mentioned that he will be driving in the Formula E series from next season. But he went on by mentioning that this wasn’t a goodbye to Formula 1.

Giovinazzi will be the reserve driver for the Scuderia Ferrari team in the 2022 season. He will help the team with the simulator and setting up the car. The Italian expressed disappointment when he left the sport and commented on his successor, Guanyu Zhou.

It’s not a farewell, but a farewell: Antonio Giovinazzi
As Sky reports. Sports. Giovinazzi mentioned that he was aware of the rumors that surrounded him all year long, but he tried to ignore them. He also mentioned that he couldn’t compete for money.
“But I’m doing it with my head held high after my best season in F1. On the other hand, you can’t compete with money. That’s the bad thing about this sport. Unfortunately, that has always been the case, ”said Antonio.

“When they informed me of the decision, I felt a great disappointment, it was a very difficult month. There were louder and louder voices around me. I’ve always tried to keep them away, but it wasn’t easy, ”said Giovinazzi.

However, Antonio did mention that he is looking forward to the 2022 season and joining Ferrari as a reserve driver for the season.
“It’s not goodbye, it’s goodbye. In the meantime, I’ll continue to drive in Formula E, then I’ll be in the service of Ferrari. It’s a big commitment for me, it’s the team that gave me everything, ”said the former Alfa Romeo driver.
It is sad to see the Italian leave the sport this way. He has done some amazing things this season, especially in qualifying. He reached Q3 on a couple of occasions, outperforming Ferrari, McLaren and Alpine. But it wasn’t enough to redeem his F1 career for the time being.
