Ferrari has confirmed that their academy gems Callum Ilott and Mick Schumacher will make their FP1 debut on Friday at the Nürburgring. While Ilott would drive with Haas F1, Schumacher would compete against the Alfa Romeo C39. Robert Shwartzman has also been selected to practice on Friday but his chance will come in the final race in Abu Dhabi.
Mick Schumacher has led the F2 championship and is largely inclined to make the coveted transition to Formula 1 in 2021. And no doubt this news will have encouraged him in pursuit of the same.

Mick Schumacher wants to make his first impression in F1

The trend of providing opportunities for young and talented drivers only seems to continue. Mick Schumacher has definitely battled the ranks to make his journey to the top.
In last week’s feature race victory in Sochi, he managed a spectacular outside move against Yuki Tsunoda, which earned him great praise. Some even believed that this action was reminiscent of his legendary patriarch Michael Schumacher.

Young Ferrari drivers now challenge the big boys
All three young drivers are now subjected to a series of tests that help to get used to the behavior and performance data of a Formula 1 car. The Ferrari Drivers’ Academy has made the team’s car available as much as possible for 2018.
Should both Schumacher and Ilott perform well, they would be good options for both Haas and Alfa Romeo. The teams have long thought about changing the driver line-up for 2021.

And as mentioned earlier, Mick Schumacher will be a good rookie talent who can bring something new to the table. But at the moment all eyes will be on the young German driver who is setting the track on fire during the Eifel GP training sessions. Additionally, the fact that the race will be held in his home country only makes it sweeter.
