Kubica has been Alfa Romeo’s test and reserve driver since early 2020 after being fired by Williams the previous season.

The Pole got his chance earlier this year when Kimi Raikkonen tested positive for coronavirus, forcing him to miss the Dutch and Italian Grand Prix.

Kubica showed a solid performance in its first two races since 2019 at Zandvoort and Monza, finishing in 15th and 14th place respectively.

The 2008 Canadian Grand Prix winner will replace new drivers Valtteri Bottas and Guanyu Zhou.

In addition to keeping Kubica, the Polish oil company Orlen will also be the title sponsor for the third season in a row.
