Kimi Raikkonen’s resignation meant that the weekend would be his first and last Dutch GP. Unfortunately, Raikkonen has tested positive for the corona virus and will not be racing this weekend. Robert Kubica will return to replace Raikkonen in the Alfa Romeo. Reserve driver and a fan favorite, Callum Ilott, will not be in the F1 car this Sunday.

Ilott will be spending his weekend at the Nürburgring and the official reserve driver was discouraged at the missed opportunity. Without his other commitments, Ilott would have competed in the Alfa Romeo Monocoque. The Briton took to Twitter to complain about his bad luck. He tweeted, “Well … that’s just my luck. Unfortunately, I didn’t plan to be there. ”In the meantime, however, he has deleted the tweet.
The fans were also sad that the driver had missed his chance to drive in the Dutch GP. However, Ilott will compete in IndyCar next weekend, which almost makes up for the F1 loss.

Callum Ilott makes IndyCar debut
Alfa Romeo’s substitute driver will compete in the series for Juncos Hollinger Racing this coming weekend. The driver will be in Portland next season to mark his IndyCar debut. Even if he replaced Raikkonen this weekend, he wouldn’t make it to Monza next week. The timelines just wouldn’t match.
After finishing second behind Mick Schumacher in the F2 championship, it was rumored that Ilott would make it into the big league. However, the driver would like to expand his options in the American series. Ilott drives the No. 77 Chevrolet and seems to have an easy transition.
Ilott finds the perfect fit for IndyCar and hopes to thrive in this chapter of his career. “I’ve been recommended this series for a long time because of my style and approach. It seems a lot of people think it’s perfect for me. So I’m here to try it out. “
The driver attributes his interest in the series to Fernando Alonso. Alonso’s entry into the 2017 Indy 500 and Romain Grosjean’s move to the series helped him see his chance at the championship.
