Mercedes and Honda are considered to be the two best engines in the field, the Japanese manufacturer is leaving Formula 1 at the end of the current season.

Alfa Romeo would undoubtedly welcome a switch to a Mercedes engine, but Blick pointed out some issues with the switch.

Mercedes already has a relatively long list of competitive customers as the German team already supplies McLaren, Aston Martin and Williams.

The F1 regulations only allow a maximum of three customer teams – so Alfa Romeo would have to wait until another team leaves Mercedes or apply for a special exemption from the umbrella organization.
