Alfa Romeo sets launch date for 2020 F1 car

The outfit will wait until February 19, the first day of testing in the preseason, to showcase its new C39 car to the public for the first time.

The start will take place at 8.15 a.m. local time at the test site, Circuit de Catalunya-Barcelona, in front of the team’s pit lane.

Together with his 2020 racing drivers Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi, the team’s new reserve driver Robert Kubica will also be present at the unveiling of the car.

Kubica moved to Alfa Romeo in the off-season after also holding talks with Haas and Racing Point after his departure from Williams was officially confirmed towards the end of the 2019 season.
The Alfa F1 team, run by the Swiss Sauber squad, is now called “Alfa Romeo Racing Orlen” after Kubica’s Polish supporter PKN Orlen signed a multi-year contract.

The team took eighth place in the 2019 constructors’ championship. This was the second full campaign led by team principal Frederic Vasseur.

Only Red Bull, Williams and Haas have yet to set the dates for the official start of their respective F1 programs for 2020.
