Alfa Romeo Racing will hit the track this weekend during the Italian Grand Prix, with a fresh new paint job for the car and new racing suit designs for the drivers, both of which were intended as a tribute to the bond between the Italian automaker and Monza .
Monza is the track on which Alfa Romeo won its first title in the history of Formula 1 on September 3, 1950 with Nino Farina at the wheel of the Alfetta 158. To celebrate this bond, Alfa Romeo modified the paintwork of its cars. which now has a new logo with colors matching those of the Italian flag. The upper part of the engine cover is now in “Quadrifoglio” green to better complement the red and white of the regular paintwork.
The way the colors are drawn gives the Italian flag a horizontal outline that becomes the dominant theme of the paint job.
As mentioned earlier, the team not only focused on the car, but also on the racing suits, which also have the 111 years logo on the top and a vertical contour on the driver’s leg.
In these fresh new colors, an Alfa Romeo F1 show car will visit the Museo Storico Alfa Romeo in Arese all weekend and visitors can take part in a virtual experience that includes a live stream with the drivers from the garage in Monza.
Speaking of drivers: next year, the latest MercedesAMG Petronas man Valtteri Bottas, who signed a multi-year contract with Alfa Romeo earlier this week. Bottas’ departure paved the way for Williams star George Russell to join Mercedes, as well as the return of Alexander Albon, who has signed for Williams.
This season, Alfa Romeo Racing is not doing so well with just three points in the constructors’ championship.
