Video: Honda's potential 2026 F1 return could be controversial

There’s a curious theory that emerges whenever the ongoing Red Bull and Honda engine collaboration or a possible 2026 project become a talking point in Formula 1.

This conspiracy essentially contends that Red Bull and Honda have gamed the system by getting an engine freeze agreed under false pretences, and are either reaping the rewards now or will benefit later.

There’s little substance behind this theory given the financial resources both parties have ploughed in before and after the engine freeze was agreed upon.

However, there is a real area of ​​potential controversy that could be reignited if Honda decides to return to F1 in 2026 with Red Bull and enters as a ‘new manufacturer’.
