With the only test before the 2021 season taking place on the sandy beaches of the Bahrain racetrack, a cocktail of results is left that promises agony, ecstasy and the long-lacking indication of a threat to this year’s Formula 1 season.

The context of such astonishment is framed by the overturning of convention and the shattering of expectations. While teams traditionally spent four days in Barcelona and returned to their factories to take advantage of the insights before heading out onto the circuit for four more days to fine-tune, F1 was only allowed in for three days in 2021 Spend Bahrain. This is the same place that the season opener is slated to take place just two weeks later.
