Max Verstappen commented on the criticism of his driving style that affected him. However, it was his learning curve that made him the driver he is today.

Speaking to Will Buxton on F1’s official channel, the 2021 world champion shared his anecdotes about how he learned to deal with failure.

Describing the emotional side of the criticism, Verstappen said:

“That is of course difficult. Sometimes it hurts. It has to hurt sometimes, my dad used to say that, you know. Especially when I was driving go-karts at national championships, I had a lot of victories and I didn’t know what it was like to lose and my dad felt like it well, one day you will learn and it will hurt. ”ᴡᴏʀʟᴅ !!!!

It’s just amazing. I started racing with my father many years ago. We dreamed of becoming world champions and now we are.

According to the newly crowned Red Bull F1 team champion, criticism and failure were part of his growing personality that defines him as a sporting talent. Verstappen believes he has learned from his experience of failures and adversity in his career from his years at the kart championship.

Max Verstappen believes that in order to become a better driver, it is necessary to face failure

Crowned as the first Dutch F1 world champion, Max Verstappen found that there were many mistakes in a sport that was dominated by a team for a long period of time, which only accelerated his growth as a driver.

Expressing his views on failures in his career, the Dutchman said:

“Of course that day came when I didn’t win and I cried because I hate to lose and of course I think that’s a good mentality. But you analyze and understand why that is the case and of course you should be grateful and respectful of the guy who hit you … the beginning of the year was really tough. But you need these moments to become a better driver. ”

While his title was tarnished by controversy over the drama of the final lap in Abu Dhabi, Max Verstappen’s merits as a racing driver and title contender after the 2021 season remain undisputed.
