Sergio Perez drove the Red Bull RB15 to the damp Silverstone track today before launching the RB16B 2021 tomorrow.
McLaren and Williams have already completed shakedowns at Silverstone in the past few days.
The lively Mexican rider, nicknamed Checo, will also do a few laps in the 2018 Toro Rosso-Honda in preparation for the 2021 season. Sergio Perez was a surprise signing from Red Bull in many ways after his contract from Racing Point, now renamed Aston Martin, was not renewed. He will work with Max Verstappen who will be a hard teammate to beat.
Sergio Perez introduces new helmet
Sergio Perez also went on Twitter today and posted his brand new Red Bull helmet design.
The tweet presented the Schuberth creation in all its glory, with four images that give us a full 360.
“Thoughts on my new helmet?” Invited Red Bull’s latest signing. The F1 driver has a tremendous following in his home country, and it’s no surprise that the flag of Mexico is emblazoned in the center.
A less obvious detail is a striking traditional metallic blue design overlaid on the team’s logo, a subtle nod to the star’s legacy.
Sergio Perez brought a large number of sponsors into his new team – newcomer Inter Proteccion got ample space in the front, while Red Bull pillars TAG Heuer, Puma and Mobil 1 can be seen.
A video was later posted on the Red Bull site in which Perez points out particular aspects that he particularly likes, namely the yellow color.
“As you know, yellow has always been my color; in the past i always had to keep it pink. So I’m looking forward to finally going back to a yellow helmet. “
Smiling Sergio Perez explains that he likes the Mexican flag on top because the on-board camera is always aimed at it. His personal motto “Never give up” is written on the back.
Sergio Perez declared it his favorite helmet of his career and worked closely with his brother on the design.
